Josephson told the students that Anderson is the first city to create many Character Counts programs, including
Athletes of Character, in which high school and local university athletes are chosen to speak to elementary and middle school students about the the importance of character in sports.

This new elementary school incorporates day lighting for energy conservation and enhanced student performance, small learning clusters for flexibility within modules of four classrooms, and passive and active security concepts for a safe environment. The classroom clusters have been designed to allow flexibility for modern teaching methods. Unique to the building are thematic elements which promote the Six Pillars of Character - trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
